What should I bring to the hospital?

Please bring with you:

  • Medicare card

  • Private health insurance card

  • Toiletries

  • Loose pyjamas

  • Any essential equipments – such as CPAP machine, hearing aids

  • Non slip shoes/slippers

  • Mobile phone and charger

Please leave your valuables at home.

Do I need to fast?

Yes. This includes fluids, solid food, and any chewable, such as gum. This is important to reduce any anaesthetic risks during your procedure. You will be advised of specific fasting instructions at the time of booking.

Do I need to stop my medications?

There are certain medications that need to be stopped prior to surgery. In some cases, it needs to be stopped a few days prior to surgery. It is important to tell us what medications you are on, including any over the counter medications. Your surgeon and anaesthetist will advise you of any medications that need to be stopped prior to surgery.

What if I am unwell?

Please let us know if you are unwell as soon as possible by contacting our rooms. This will ensure you can be re-scheduled to a later date and another person can receive their medical care sooner.

Post operative care

Any specific post operative care advice will be discussed with you at the time of surgical booking and prior to going home.  

Please ensure you have a responsible adult to take you home.
